Earlier I posted how I was able to put my children (mostly) in charge of their lunches using this simple system. I decided to follow up with a list of 25+ healthy ideas for kids’ lunches. I love getting ideas from other parents and I hope you find it helpful too!
I may make one or two homemade items to have on hand for the week (say soup and muffins or bars). But I don’t always get around to it.
I’m pretty happy with how healthy and satisfying their lunches are these days – and that they are doing most of it themselves!
Here it goes…
Guacamole or organic hummus packs (I get these at Costco)
String cheese (I get these at Trader Joe’s)
Chips & salsa
Sunbutter & jam
Nitrate free turkey and ham
Frozen Amy’s burritos (they have a good gluten/dairy free option for my son)
Copycat La Madeleine tomato-basil soup
Boiled eggs sprinkled with salt & pepper
Croque-monsieur muffins with veggie add-ins
Egg salad and gluten-free crackers
Olives and feta cheese (I love Trader Joe’s sheep feta!)
Sushi (sometimes I’ll buy veggie sushi at Whole Foods the night before for a special treat)
Fruits and vegetables:
Small apples and pears, berries, kiwi, clementines
Frozen mango chunks
Smoothies or protein shakes (sometimes I will make one for my daughter)
Carrot sticks and red pepper strips
Ginger or ranch dressing for dipping veggies
What are your favorites for the kids’ lunches? I’d love to know!
